RCMP images and logos are exclusive and distinct symbols that are entrenched in Canadian history and carry significant value to the RCMP. The RCMP Foundation exists to preserve this value by exploring mutually beneficial partnerships that will generate positive good will for the RCMP while ensuring the protection of the RCMP image against uses that are not consistent with Canadian values.
It is in everyone’s interest to ensure a product is properly licensed. Licensing assures accountability and
- protects consumers against being sold poorly made or even harmful products;
- protects foreign and domestic workers from being exploited; and
- protects those who legally deserve the proceeds from legitimate sales.
While we are vigilant in ensuring legitimate practices, you can help us protect consumers, workers and those who receive funding through the Foundation by reporting products you think are being sold without proper licensing.
Not sure if the product is licensed? Here are just some of the signs that merchandise is unlicensed:
- product appears to be of low quality
- packaging seems flimsy
- there are spelling or grammar errors on labels
- the deal seems too good to be true
- the Foundation logos are distorted or manipulated
- trademarks are used in a distasteful way
- the official label or hangtag is missing
- product labels are in one language (In Canada, all product labels must be in English and French.)
