ABORIGINAL POLICING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND

Aboriginal Policing Professional Development Fund (APPDF) supports enhanced training for aboriginal police officers and the communities they serve.  Through the APPDF,  Aboriginal police professionals are provided with the opportunity to take part in much needed specialized police education and training offered by the Canadian Police College. 

The CPC, a National Police Service of the RCMP, is a recognized leader in providing advanced and specialized training and executive development to law enforcement officers from all municipal, provincial and federal jurisdictions across Canada.

The Aboriginal Policing Professional Development Program provides specialized training to meet the specific needs of Aboriginal Police Services, such as:

 

  • Senior police administration
  • Aboriginal Policing
  • Organized crime disruption in the Aboriginal Community
  • Interpersonal violence and abuse
  • Aboriginal Gang Reduction Strategies
  • Critical Incident Stress Management
  • First Nations Corporate Governance.

 

Police officers who work for a stand-alone First Nations Police Service, an Aboriginal Police Service, or who are employed as peace keepers through a First Nations Chief and Council are eligible for the APPDF.
